Detailed description of Links Golf Club

Links Golf Club, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Marlton, New Jersey

Links Golf Club first opened for play in 1976. The course was designed by Frederick Hawtree.

King's Grant, a Marlton, New Jersey, housing community, is the setting for The Links Golf Club. The golf course was open to the public for its' first six years. In 1981 it was converted it into a private facility.

The Links is routed over some 160 acres of very gently rolling meadows and woodlands. Oak, maple, sweet gum, and pine are the principal species of trees framing most of the holes.

England's Frederick W. Hawtree designed the eighteen holes. The only other American course by this English golf architect is North Carolina's Mount Mitchell Golf Club. However, throughout the British Isles and on the European continent he was one of the most respected figures in golf course architecture during the second half of the 20th century, designing or remodeling, in partnership with his father and son, more than 300 courses throughout the world, including Royal Birkdale, near Liverpool, where the British Open is played periodically.

At the Links Club, Hawtree's practice of letting the site dictate the character of the course can be readily observed. There is nothing forced or artificial about the holes, which, meandering through the trees, fall with a becoming naturalness on the land. Fairways here incline to be narrow, greens to be thoughtfully bunkered. Power is not the prerequisite to a good round at Links Golf Club, a big emphasis is on precision.

Par for the course is 71 from the back tees and the forward tees. The Blue tees and the White tees play to a par-72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,725 yards. From the foward tees the course plays to 5,485 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 7, a par-5 that plays to 550 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 176 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 7, the 550 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Links Golf Club is # 17, the 176 yard par-3.

Very tight course with fairly small greens. Greens are relatively flat. A good test of golf.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
